For a long time now, BMW has stuck to the old X3, preferring to ignore the public clamour for a revamp. However, it looks like the company has finally given in to the market demands. Early 2018 will see the launch of the new improved X3. Blended with BMW’s creative and versatile KLAR architecture and perfectly redesigned by Calvin Luk, the 2018 BMW X3 is reportedly a fusion of driving enjoyment, luxury, comfort and utility.
The five-seater will be coming in xDrive30i and M40i variants, each with its own specific powertrain (2.0-litre, 3.0-litre turbo). Both the variants will be backed by the same transmission and an all-wheel drive. The all-new X3 is expected to have a better-balanced weight distribution, empowering the rear wheels. Based on Intelligent Lightweight Construction with upgraded suspension and powertrain, the new X3 is all set to conquer not just the road but also the market.
Two driving assist packages are there on the new 2018 X3. Besides the regular safety features, it offers the Active Cruise Control with Stop & Go, Active Lane Keep Assistant with Side Collision Avoidance, Traffic Jam Assistant, Evasion Aid and front and rear cross traffic alert. Parking Assistance with front and rear parking sensors and an automated parking system has also been integrated. This can turn out to be a real life-saver during the daily commute in traffic-congested cities.
A confident and aggressive stance is highlighted through enhanced body proportions. With a matte-Aluminium design, underbody cladding, larger kidney grille, split dual exhausts, less angular sculpted taillights, roof spoiler with side Aero Blades, BMW Air curtains and 20-inch alloy wheels – the 2018 X3 is a complete overhaul. It also has less kerb weight than the previous version. Measuring 4716 mm in length, 1897 mm in width and 1676 mm in height, the new X3 model is not just lighter but also longer, wider and higher. The evolutionary exterior clearly says “Don’t just Drive, Conquer”.
The inviting interior with revised control layout is spacious, conquering every terrain and living the message “The Icon Lives On”. The style flows from outside to inside, giving a luxurious and premium feel. Bigger and better proportions, luxe upholsteries, upgraded steering wheel and lights – this is like a completely different vehicle altogether. The striking difference is in the dashboard and centre screen. iDrive 6 with a 10.2-inch LCD display that has a touchscreen and speedy processing power makes it a pleasure to sit in this car. The car flaunts an extensive suite of apps connected with iOS or android smartphones and smartwatches, in-built storage for music, a 360-degree camera in the expanded Connected Drive, three-zone automatic climate control, new large storage bin, wireless charging, noiseless cabin, high-grade clarity in instruments and switches. Riding the X3 is clearly going to be an unforgettable experience.
The new X3 will be available in three variants – xLine, M Sport and Luxury Line, priced Rs 50 lakh upwards and is expected to be launched after March next year. All set to win hearts and conquer roads, the X3 is perhaps one of the most highly anticipated launches of 2018!
