Honda Cars India unveiled special editions of three of its cars: the City, Amaze and the WR-V, each with an additional label to its name. All of the three special edition cars are based on the top-end variants of their models, the City being based on the ZX variant, the Amaze on the S(O) variant and the WR-V on the S variant. All three of them have received subtle yet eloquent upgrades to their original designs and features. Even at the slight premium that they’re placed at, the host of additional elements at your disposable make these special editions by Honda an excellent buy.
Celebrating the 20th anniversary of the City, Honda decided to give its most successful car a slight facelift. Fixed with a ‘20th Anniversary Edition’ insignia at the rear end of the car, the City has been sprayed with a classy chrome garnish around the bumper at the front and on the doors. To make things more interesting, Honda has decided to provide a free one-month subscription of Honda Connect, which furnishes a host of security and safety features such as the Honda Impact Alert, Vehicle Health Monitoring, Geo-fencing and Trip Analysis. The special ‘20th Anniversary Edition’ Honda City petrol CVT model is priced at Rs. 13,74,532 while the Diesel MT model is priced at Rs. 13,82,382 (at Delhi ex-showroom prices).
While the Honda Amaze hasn’t done too well in the Indian market, the Pride edition of the Amaze is stocked with a plethora of features that is sure to boost its credibility as well as its sales. The list of features available in the interior of the car include a new-age 17.7cm Advanced Infotainment device with an Audio, Video and Navigation system. Adding to the stylish look of the Pride edition are elegantly designed seat covers, a front centre armrest and a very comfortable and easy-to-grip steering wheel cover. On the exterior, the new Amaze has been embellished with the ‘Pride Edition’ insignia, a door edge garnish as well as rear parking sensors for additional safety. The petrol version of the Amaze Pride edition has been priced at a modest Rs. 6,29,900 while the diesel version comes at a price tag of Rs. 7,83,486.
Overtaking the City in terms of sales figures in the initial stages of its launch, the Honda WR-V made quite an impact in the Indian automobile market when it was launched. The new Edge edition of the WR-V is packed with even more features than its predecessor, both in terms of style as well as technology. Apart from providing a free one-month membership of the Honda Connect application, the WR-V has been equipped with various other features such as the ‘Edge’ edition emblem, a rear camera with IRVM display, rear parking sensors as well as 16-inch alloy wheels with gunmetal finish to give the WR-V a stylish edge. The manual petrol version has been priced at Rs. 8,01,017 while the diesel-powered crossover version has been priced at Rs. 9,04,683.
These three new special edition models unveiled by Honda have apparently been brought in to boost car sales for the company in the new year. Although there have been no changes to the mechanical aspects of the cars, the modifications make the entry of the special editions feel like a breath of fresh air in the Indian market.
