Ford India has been launching new cars at regular intervals to redefine its brand image and strengthen its position in various segments. The automaker recently launched Aspire S – the sports editions of its compact sedan Aspire in India. Ford Aspire S is available in both petrol and diesel variants. The vehicle is also manufactured fully in India. It is not completely different from Aspire in terms of features and specifications. But Ford has made several mechanical and cosmetic changes to make the sports edition of Aspire appealing to young Indian drivers.
Ford allows customers to choose from two distinct variants of Aspire S – petrol and diesel. The petrol edition of Aspire S is designed with a 1.2-litre and four-cylinder petrol engine, whereas the diesel edition of the vehicle comes with a 1.5-litre and four-cylinder diesel engine. The petrol engine churns 88bhp and 112Nm of torque; while the diesel engine delivers 99bhp and 215Nm. Ford has complemented each engine with a five-speed manual unit.
The mileage delivered by the petrol and diesel variant of Aspire S differs. The petrol edition delivers a mileage of 18.16 kilometres/litre, whereas the diesel edition delivers a mileage of 25.83 kilometres/litre.
Ford has added several mechanical changes to Aspire S to make it different from Aspire. The sports edition of the vehicle facilitates better handling through a tuned suspension and improves aerodynamics with a rear spoiler. Also, it is designed with larger 15-inch alloy wheels. Aspire S comes with six airbags at the front, rear and side.
Ford Aspire S also features new black honeycomb grille, black inset in headlamp bezel, and dual-tone exterior with a black painted roof. It further sports new graphics at the rear and on the side. Ford has also designed the seats with fog grey stitching and provides leather covered steering wheel. The drivers can access MyFord Dock which is compatible with both USB and navigation system.
The buyers have the option to choose Ford Aspire S in seven distinct colours – sparkling gold, ingot silver, smoke grey, ruby red, deep impact blue, and oxford white tuxedo black. The varying colour options make the sports edition of Aspire more trendy and appealing.
The ex-showroom prices of petrol and diesel variants of Aspire S differ from one state to another. However, Ford has set the price of the 1.2 petrol Titanium variant at Rs 6. 5 lakhs. On the other hand, the 1.5 diesel Titanium version costs Rs 7.6 lakhs.
The petrol and diesel variants of Aspire S will help Ford redefine its brand image in India. Each variant of the vehicle has been designed with several mechanical and cosmetic updates to attract and impress Indian customers. However, it is finally the sales figures of Aspire S that will depict its contribution towards strengthening Ford’s position in this specific segment.
